Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Eastern Fairfax County Until 4:15 p.m.

Thunderstorm Warning

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for eastern Fairfax County and the city of Falls Church until 4:15 p.m.

At 3:36 p.m. EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Chevy Chase to Mantua to 9 miles south of Linton Hall, moving east at 45 mph.

Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles.

Locations impacted include Arlington, Alexandria, Annandale, Clinton, Springfield, Fort Hunt, Groveton, Falls Church and Huntington.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
