        What about traffic court?

        • fairfaxcounty says :

From the general district court website: If you were scheduled for 9:30am Traffic Court at the Fairfax County courthouse on Monday, January 25th (not the Town of Herndon or Vienna), your case will be continued to Friday, February 26, 2016 at 1:30 P.M. If you were scheduled for 9:30am Traffic Court on Tuesday, January 26th, your case will be continued to Friday, March 11, 2016 at 1:30 P.M. All parties (including towns) will be notified of their new court date by mail at the address noted on their ticket. If the address is not correct, please call the clerk’s office at 703-246-3764 to change your address and obtain the new court date. Court dates can be confirmed at https://eapps.courts.state.va.us/gdcourts

          Hope that helps!

Is the permit center open today?

We can’t even shovel the snow, and the government is not even cleaning it. Schools better be closed on Wednesday, a two hour delay wouldn’t do. Its good if schools start early next year, and then it will end early.

Does Fairfax County have any need or use for volunteer equipment operators? I have several years’ experience in heavy equipment and would be happy to help.

    • fairfaxcounty says :

Thanks so much! We aren’t aware of any request for volunteers in this area at the moment, but will certainly let you know if that changes.

Good afternoon! When might we expect a call on county government status for tomorrow (Wednesday 1/27)? Not looking for a blood oath or anything, but an approximation would be helpful so that my place of employment that generally follows gov’t closings doesn’t jump the gun and publicly declare us “open” right before the county calls “closed.” Will there be an actual announcement if it’s open, or will there be NO announcement if it’s open?

Lorton Patch reports that FFx County schools and offices are closed tomorrow to allow clearing of streets and schools from snow. Is this the school offices only or are they closing Fairfax County Government as well to allow for the clearing of roads and neighborhoods for those still stuck in their neighborhoods?

    • fairfaxcounty says :

A county operating status decision won’t be announced until sometime after 6 p.m., after all relevant information has been reviewed. Fairfax County Public Schools are closed tomorrow, Wed., Jan. 27. http://www.fcps.edu/news/emerg.shtml

My neighborhood and several others, still have snow piled up preventing us from getting out. No plow in sight. We should stay off roads and let the plows come through the neighborhoods tomorrow.

How will the juvenile license ceremony scheduled for today be rescheduled?

    • fairfaxcounty says :

For information regarding ceremony scheduling, you can call the court at 703-246-3030.

      • D Callsen says :

My child also had his juvenile license ceremony scheduled for today. The number you left to call just says if a child’s first ceremony is missed a second ceremony is rescheduled and we will be sent another notice. After the second miss then it is resent back to Richmond. This first “miss” should not count since it wasn’t in our control right? I’d love to bring him in for tomorrow ceremony, if the courts are open, since he has the day off from school and wouldn’t have to miss school for his rescheduled date. Please advise if coming tomorrow is ok of if that messes up tomorrow’s ceremony.
