Are the offices of Land Development Services open today? It says you are open but employees have granted unscheduled leave. Does that mean you are open with employees to service us or not? The status update is not clear. Please specify.

  6. Fairfax County Emergency Information says :

Fairfax County government programs and services are open today, Wednesday, Feb. 18. Unscheduled leave for employees simply means that employees are “authorized to use their own leave (annual, compensatory or leave without pay) to remain home from work or to leave work early without obtaining prior approval from their supervisor. However, employees must notify their supervisors if they opt to stay home.”

WIND CHILL ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MINIGHTS TONIGHT UNTIL 10 AM FRIDAY. WITH WIND CHILL…0 TO 10 DEGREES BELOW ZERO LATE TONIGHT INTO THURSDAY. WIND CHILLS ON THURSDAY NIGHT ARE EXPECTED TO DROP INTO THE 5 TO 15 BELOW ZERO RANGE. OUR CHILDREN WILL RESULT IN HAVING FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN AND FCPS SHOULD CLOSE THE SCHOOLS ON 2/19-THURSDAY.

Close FCPS 2/19, you guys are going to freeze our children and risk them for hypothermia. As parents we want our children to be safe at home. If schools are open, they get sick, will hold FCPS responsible. It will be Lo-3 and you expect our kids to stand at bus stop early hours 6am, no way…You need to take decision fast not like yesterday sending KIT msgs to parents @ 10pm.

This site is for county info, not school info. For school info go to the fcps site! The County doesn’t decide if schools open or close. Also, I don’t know why people keep posting that schools should close??? If you don’t think your children should go to school, keep them home!! Or, if you don’t think they should wait at the bus stop in the cold, drive them to the stop or to school! It’s not a big deal!

You need to be a parent of special need to understand what they go through when the decisions of schools closing delayed. The way you feel, which is no Big Deal..
