Expect Power Outages and Downed Trees

Posted at 1:15 a.m.

A winter storm warning remains in effect until 10 a.m. this morning, Monday, Dec. 9. Freezing rain will gradually change to rain through the morning.

The National Weather Service advises that residents should expect downed tree branches and that significant power outages are possible. In addition, driving and walking conditions will become very dangerous from icing due to freezing rain.

Here’s some additional precautionary actions residents should take:

  • Be ready for power outages. Know where working flashlights are for your use.
  • Have your electronics charging to allow for a full charge in the event of a power outage.
  • Do not travel if you do not need to.
  • Monitor the latest forecast for updates and for impacts to the morning rush hour.

Most organizations base their policy on the govs call regarding closings. If there is a winter storm in effect why would tomorrow be open?
