Absentee Voting Cancelled Tuesday; Mail Ballot Deadline Extended

Posted 7:25 p.m.

Voting Information for Tuesday, Oct. 30.

  • Absentee voting is cancelled for Tuesday, Oct. 30.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 5 p.m. is the statutory deadline for the Office of Elections to receive all absentee voting applications requesting a ballot by mail.  The deadline will apply for applications sent by fax to 703-324-3725 or e-mail to absenteeballot@fairfaxcounty.gov or voting@fairfaxcounty.gov.   Since, however, the Fairfax County Government will be closed again and no mail was delivered Monday, or will be delivered Tuesday, any applications received in the Office of Elections by mail or commercial delivery (UPS, FedEx, etc.) on Wednesday, Oct. 31 (or the next business day the office is open) will be considered received on time due to the emergency situation based on Virginia Code computation of deadlines when an official office is closed.
