Batteries: Fairfax Prepares Day 8

Posted 11:12 a.m.

day 8 iconYesterday we described the potential for power outages and asked you to complete an easy ask.

Today’s tip is related – batteries.

If you lose power, you will need batteries for:

  • Flashlights
  • AM/FM radios and weather radios
  • Battery-powered phone chargers

Keep in mind that batteries expire, so keep track of when you purchase them. If you’re using rechargeable batteries,  those eventually need electricity. Plan on having various sizes of batteries on hand for what you need.

Exclamation point iconTHE ASK: By next weekend, pickup an extra package or two of the most commonly used batteries in your home.

Yes we just stalked up on batteries.

I keep extra batteries on hand (came in handy today) and last month got two more battery-powered lamps.

Solar and crank flashlights/radios are so much better! You never have to worry about expired batteries (or polluting a landfill with them).

Got batteries and lanterns. Came in handy last night. Now considering UPSs for my iPhone, iPad and computer.
