Medication Safety in the Heat
Posted: 12:59 p.m.
Exposure to heat can affect the potency and stability of many medications, especially those that require refrigeration (for example, insulin, somatropin and drugs that have been reconstituted). If you are concerned about the efficacy or safety of a particular product, contact your pharmacist, health care provider or the manufacturer’s customer service department.
To report an emergency, call (preferred) or text 9-1-1 (voice and TTY). For non-emergencies, call 703-691-2131, TTY 703-877-3715.
