Faith Community Emergency Planning Workshop Oct. 6

Can your house of worship continue its operations and ministries after major building damage or loss of staff and leadership?

Do you have plans in place if your sanctuary or education building is damaged and cannot be used for services or classes?

What will happen if your business office is destroyed by fire and  electronic and paper files are destroyed? What will happen if your senior clergy and associate clergy are all hospitalized as a result of a car accident and cannot serve for several months?  A Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) will help houses of worship prepare for and continue its operations after such emergencies and disasters.

Join other houses of worship on Oct. 6 and explore how a COOP can be developed for a house of worship.

Dr. Greg Shaw, George Washington University Crisis, Disaster and Risk Management Institute professor, will provide guidance and instruction on faith community COOP design and development. The training will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at Providence Presbyterian Church located at 9019 Little River Turnpike in Fairfax.

Registration is required by calling 703-324-3453, TTY 711, or emailing
