Governor Declares Emergency in Response to Flooding

Governor Bob McDonnell declared a state of emergency in response to flooding in Virginia that has occurred as a result of the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee. 

The declared state of emergency authorizes state agencies to assist local governments in responding to the impact of persistent heavy rainfall. In addition, the declaration will allow state agencies to work with federal and local partners to further assess the impact from the storm.   

Fairfax County also declared a local emergency on Thursday.
