County Executive Declares Local State of Emergency
County Executive Anthony Griffin declared a local emergency for Fairfax County. All roads designated with signs as a “snow emergency route” are now being enforced – it is unlawful to park any vehicle on an emergency route or to impede traffic. The emergency routes can be found at http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/emergency/emergency-routes.htm.
A local state of emergency should not alarm residents to evacuate or take other actions than what’s already been shared. A local state of emergency also allows the county to apply for federal/state reimbursements if needed.
