Light Snow to Affect Evening Rush Hour
Posted 10:58 a.m.
The National Weather Service has provided the following forecast for Fairfax County:
Light snow will be moving into the area between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. with a period of moderate snow expected during the late afternoon and evening rush hour. Steady snow will taper off from west to east during the mid to late evening. Temperatures will remain in the mid 30’s.
Accumulations of 1″ are expected in Fairfax County with localities to the west such as Loudoun and Clarke counties expecting between 1″ and 3″.
It will be rush hour when the bulk of the weather will affect us, so please drive carefully and allow for more time as the snow reduces visibility and may make roads slick.
Driving tips include:
- Clear the snow from your vehicle’s roof, hood and trunk and especially from the windows, mirrors and lights.
- Always wear your seat belt.
- Leave a few minutes early.
- Keep a safe distance of at least five seconds behind other vehicles.
